Nonna’s Marinara Sauce

Marinara Sauce

Ingredients: (Serves 2)

  • 28 ounce of San Marzano peeled tomatoes.
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. 
  • 1/4 onion finely chopped. 
  • 1 glove garlic finely chopped. 
  • 6-10 leaves of fresh basil.
  • Black pepper (to taste).

Directions:

  • In the blender, purée the tomatoes set aside  (check to make sure they are all heathy tomatoes).
  • In a pan, heat the oil at medium heat, add chopped onions, cook for 3 minutes, (make sure not to burn the onions),add the chopped garlic, cook for 30 seconds, add tomatoes.
  • Bring to a boil then cover the pot, continue cooking on low heat for 30 minutes, add basil, cook additional 5 minutes. 

Sauce is ready.
